1. General information
This subject responds to the need of all healthcare professionals to be able to express themselves orally in more than one foreign language.
The main objective of this subject is the acquisition of the basic tools to be able to successfully manage the most common oral communication situations, in French, related to dentistry.
It is recommended that the student has acquired a communicative competence at least equivalent to the A2 level of French according to the CEFRL
As one of the main objectives of this subject is to improve the student's oral and written communicative competence in French, the student's interaction, comprehension and oral and written production skills will be enhanced in the French language
These approaches and objectives are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Goal 4: Quality Education. Objective 4.7
Goal 5: Gender Equality. Objective 5.1
Goal 11: Cities. Objective 11.4
2. Learning results
The student, in order to pass this subject, must demonstrate the following results...
- Solve communicative situations, simulations and case studies in French that involve the understanding of fundamental concepts of the subject.
- Perform assignments and tests, as well as participate in activities that demonstrate a knowledge of the contents of the subject.
- Apply the phonetic and grammatical rules of the French language to oral discourse.
- Show fluency and correctness in oral expression in French to maintain verbal interactions related to the field of dentistry.
- Read, understand and handle different types of texts in specific French, valuing them as sources of information necessary for professional activity.
3. Syllabus
- Situations de communication: s´informer et participer dans des échanges: travail, hôpital, professions.
- Grammaire : révision des conjugaisons, les phrases simples, les pronoms personnels, les possessifs et les démonstratifs, l’interrogation, la négation, les relatifs.
- Le lexique de la pratique dentaire : L'anatomie dentaire, le cabinet dentaire , les traitements, la gestion des rendez-vous etc .
4. Academic activities
The program offered to the student to help them achieve the expected results includes the following activities.
- Explanation of concepts, presentation and exemplification of tasks.
- Performance of individual / group tasks.
- Participation in simulation activities.
- Search for materials and resources.
- Preparation of evaluable tests
- Student presentations.
5. Assessment system
First call:
Global evaluation consisting of the following tests:
1) Test with questions corresponding to the grammatical, lexical and discursive contents of the subject (20%).
2) Listening comprehension test (20%)
3) Written comprehension test (25%)
4) Oral test (35% of the final grade) consisting of a monologue and an interaction.
Assessment criteria:
-Fluency.
- Pronunciation.
- The use of specific vocabulary appropriate to the communication situation.
- Comprehension of different types of documents and oral situations.
- Spelling and grammatical correctness
